What role does Bonnie the Rabbit play in Five Nights at Freddy's? toggle section
Bonnie, or Bonnie the Rabbit, serves as a secondary antagonist in the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. This character is a recurring figure in Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted and Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery. In the original game, Bonnie plays the role of the band's guitarist. Why is Bonnie considered a difficult character in FNAF 2? toggle section
In FNAF 2, Bonnie the Rabbit is seen as a challenging character due to her erratic actions. The inability to protect oneself from Bonnie and other antagonistic animatronics typically leads to a jumpscare, increasing the game's complexity.

What is the significance of Bonnie's blue color in FNAF? toggle section
The blue color of Bonnie in FNAF is a result of using a recolored version of the Withereds' suit, causing blue blotches. Bonnie often appears as a desaturated blue, seeming purple at times. However, Bonnie's base model is blue, as shown in Scott Cawthon's anniversary images. This color rule is broken only in FNAF World. A glitch in Funtime Foxy's Hard Mode level can also present Bonnie with an incorrect texture.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Bonnie ate a cat in Five Nights at Freddy's? toggle section
The notion of Bonnie eating a cat originates from unreleased emails in FNaF AR, intended to highlight the animatronics' aggressive nature. Nonetheless, these emails were subsequently deemed non-canon as they were not authored by Scott, the game's creator.

What are the unique features of Bonnie's ears in FNAF? toggle section
Bonnie, the animatronic rabbit from FNAF, has distinct, segmented ears. In the Nightmare Bonnie version, his ears consist of three segments and feature lighter blue accents. In another depiction, Bonnie's ears lack significant portions of their upper halves. Additionally, Bonnie has a small tuft of hair located between his ears.

Appearance[]

Bonnie is a bluish-purple animatronic rabbit with light accents on his stomach, ears, snout, and the bottom of his feet.

He has pink irises and black pupils, but lacks eyebrows, unlike the other characters in the original game he debuted. He has two segmented ears on the top of his head, attached to his endoskeleton with a wide piece of metal stemming from the bottom of the large, bottom segment of the ears. He has rounded teeth, lining his bottom jaw, with what appears to be a metal wire wrapped around the outside of them. Under his chin, he wears a butterfly-shaped, shiny red bowtie that sits on his chest, just above his belly.

He holds an electric guitar with a red body, white pick guard, and a grey tongue, there also appears to be lights along the tongue of the guitar.

FNaF VR: Help Wanted[]

The only notable difference between the VR Model and Scott's original model is the textures, minor different colors, and the fact the VR Model's eyes are half-spheres while Scott's were wedges. He also sports a different guitar, due to his original V-shaped guitar been copyrighted. This Bonnie model also seems to have technology similar to the Funtime animatronics with parts that pop open and close automatically at the push of two buttons. This might also be Bonnie before he had a paint job due to being blue and white similar to Toy Bonnie unlike the purple and grey Bonnie with blue blotches from Five Nights at Freddy’s.

FNaF AR: Special Delivery[]

The model in this game has a shiny plastic texture on it instead of a furry texture. Bonnie's texture colors him more of a purplish color than his original model. It also has scratches and stains on his surface, making him look a lot older and damaged.

Freddy In Space 2[]

Bonnie is an indigo rabbit with pink eyes. He wears a black and grey suit, and also has a red visor over his left eye. He carries a yellow and red gun.

Five Laps at Freddy's[]

Bonnie appears as a significantly more cartoony version of himself, with a buck-tooth smile, no visible endoskeleton and dark rings around his eyes to mimic the look of the suits in the base game. Apart from the cartoony design, he remains mostly the same as his mainline counterpart.

History[]

Along with Freddy Fazbear, Chica and Foxy, Bonnie was built for the new Freddy Fazbear's Pizza in FNaF 1 after the older pizzeria with the same name from FNaF 2 closed down. He was the guitarist of the animatronic band.

As seen in FNaF 2 minigames, after five children had been killed by William Afton, their souls were put into the animatronics by The Marionette, including Bonnie. And some time after the killed children were reported missing, the pizzeria was closed down.

As shown in FNaF 3 minigames, William Afton then found out about the trapped souls inside the animatronics, and decided to come back to Freddy's and destroy them one by one. Bonnie along with other animatronics are dismantled, which causes the souls to break free. As William ran into the secret safe room in the restaurant and wear the Spring Bonnie suit to hide from them, the springlocks in the suit suddenly malfunctioned (possibly due to the rain water seeping into the building), causing the locks to become loose, resulting in his brutal death. Finally, the souls fade away.

In Special Delivery, a rebuild of Bonnie is made by the Fazbear Entertainment for the Fazbear Funtime Service, along with other animatronics and his reskins, Choco-Bonnie and Easter Bonnie.

He also makes an appearance in The Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience.

Behavior[]

FNaF VR: Help Wanted[]

BonnieJump1

Bonnie's jumpscare.

Bonnie appears in three sections of the game. During Hard Mode versions of the levels he's in, he'll take on the appearance of Neon Bonnie.

Five Nights at Freddy's 1[]

In the Five Nights at Freddy's 1 gameplay segment, Bonnie will make his way to the player's office along with Freddy, Chica and Foxy, much similar to the original game where he debuted. He approaches the left doorway. When he arrives, the player must shut the left door to prevent him from getting in.

Bonnie Repair[]

Bonnie also appears in the Parts and Service section. In this section, the player will follow the computer's voice instruction to clean Bonnie's eyes and repair Bonnie's guitar; specifically the tune. If the instruction isn't followed properly, such as dropping an eye in the wrong cleaning receptacle, Bonnie will jumpscare the player, ending the run.

Pizza Party[]

Bonnie makes a brief appearance in the Hard Mode of Night Terrors, Pizza Party. He appears after the player enters the left hallway of the FNaF 1 office. The left door of the office will be closed a while after the player stays in the room, and Bonnie will start to approach the player. If the player doesn't leave the room immediately, Bonnie will jumpscare the player.

FNaF AR: Special Delivery[]

BonnieJumpscare

Bonnie's jumpscare in Special Delivery.

Bonnie is an animatronic that can attack the player. The player must locate him by detecting the static and listen to his movement and noises. When he charges at them, the player must shock him when he is visible. The player must also look away when he is in the "Haywire Mode", where he stands right in front of the player and twitches fitfully. It is also possible to obtain his plush suit and his CPU upon defeating him.

Freddy in Space 2[]

FIS2-Bonnie

Bonnie is featured as a playable character. He can be unlocked by rescuing him in the Cosmic Freeway level. Bonnie's attack has a medium-low damage, medium range and medium spread. Bonnie also has a high jump height, only lower than Foxy.

FNaF: Into the Pit[]

Bonnie returns as a minor antagonist in Into the Pit who can appear in a number of hiding places. If the player attempts to use the hiding places that Bonnie hides in, he'll grab Oswald and hold him there until the player can escape his grasp by mashing the displayed button.

Five Laps at Freddy's[]

The guitarist of the band and Freddy's right-hand man. This rabbit's hare raising!

— Unused Character Description

Bonnie is one of 12 playable racers in FLaF that can be selected. He is a medium-weight racer. At the time of the demo's release, his weight class is the only difference between Bonnie and the other available racers.

Trivia[]

FNaF VR: Help Wanted[]

  • Help Wanted is the first time in a main game that Bonnie's model has been blue. As explained in FNaF 2, this's due to Bonnie and the other Classics using a modified and recolored version of the Withereds' suit, hence the blue blotches on the original version.
    • All previous games showed classic Bonnie as either a purple or an indigo.
    • Despite how it appears, classic Bonnie's base model is actually blue, as revealed in Scott Cawthon's anniversary images. In most images where Bonnie appears purple, he is usually more of a desaturated blue (which can have an illusion of appearing purple).
      • The only game to break this rule is FNAF World.
    • FNaF 3 does showcase classic Bonnie as blue, but only in minigame form.
Glitchbun

Bonnie with the wrong texture that appears in Funtime Foxy's Hard Mode level.

  • There is a glitch or an oversight in Funtime Foxy's Hard Mode level where the player may get jumpscared by a Bonnie with his head texture in the repair stage.
  • In the lyrics of the Freddy Fazbear's Theme, Bonnie mentions having a cotton tail, despite not having one at all.
    • This can be further seen when viewing him in the Gallery.
    • The lyric could actually be a reference to Toy Bonnie, who does have a cotton tail.
  • Bonnie in this game sports a different guitar, this is presumably due to copyright reasons about the original, V-shaped design of the guitar.

FNaF AR: Special Delivery[]

  • Bonnie is one of the only characters to currently have no voicelines. Instead, he makes groaning and mechanical movement sounds.
      • The quiet, distant whining of an electric guitar can also be heard as Bonnie closes in on the player.
  • Bonnie's updated, plastic texture colors him a medium purple, as opposed to the blue and white of his base model in Help Wanted.
  • Bonnie was the first character to get two skins.
    • Those two skins being Chocolate Bonnie and Easter Bonnie.
    • Bonnie was also the only character to receive 2 skins in one event, as well as the only character with 3 skins related to one theme, being Easter.
  • Bonnie is the second character to get three skins.
    • The first was Springtrap.
      • He was also the first character to receive four skins, with the second also being Springtrap.
  • In FNaF AR's unreleased emails, a lot is revealed about the lore, but one bit of information that sticks out is the information that Bonnie had eaten a cat. This was most likely meant to show off the aggressiveness of the animatronics.
    • These emails were later revealed to not be canon, however, as Scott did not write them.

Freddy In Space 2[]

  • Despite being in space, Bonnie does not wear a helmet.
  • Bonnie's suit bears a resemblance to the Frieza Force's Battle Armor used by the members of the Frieza Force from Dragon Ball.
    • Furthermore, Bonnie's red visor seems to be based off of the Frieza Force's Scouters.
