My guitar is blazin', this rabbit's "Hare"-raisin'! Just listen to me wail!

— Bonnie, singing in the scrapped Showtime performance.

Bonnie the Rabbit, or simply known as Bonnie, is an antagonist in Five Nights at Freddy's, who is a returning character that appears in Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted and as well as Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery.

Appearance

Bonnie is a bluish animatronic rabbit with light accents on his stomach, ears, snout, and the bottom of his feet.

He has pink irises and black pupils, but lacks eyebrows, unlike the other characters in the original game he debuted. He has two segmented ears on the top of his head, attached to his endoskeleton with a wide piece of metal stemming from the bottom of the large, bottom segment of the ears. He has rounded teeth, lining his bottom jaw, with what appears to be a metal wire wrapped around the outside of them. Under his chin, he wears a butterfly-shaped, shiny red bowtie that sits on his chest, just above his belly.

He holds an electric guitar with a red body, white pick guard, and a grey tongue, there also appears to be lights along the tongue of the guitar.

FNaF VR: Help Wanted

The only notable difference between the VR Model and Scott's original model is the textures, minor different colors, and the fact the VR Model's eyes are half-spheres while Scott's were wedges. He also sports a different guitar, due to his original V-shaped guitar been copyrighted. This Bonnie model also seems to have technology similar to the Funtime animatronics with parts that pop open and close automatically at the push of two buttons. This might also be Bonnie before he had a paint job due to being blue and white similar to Toy Bonnie unlike the purple and grey Bonnie with blue blotches from Five Nights at Freddy’s.

FNaF AR: Special Delivery

The model in this game has a shiny plastic texture on it instead of furry texture. Bonnie's texture colors him more of a purplish color than his original model. It also has scratches and stains on his surface, making him look a lot older and damaged.

Freddy In Space 2

Bonnie is an indigo rabbit with pink eyes. He wears a black and grey suit, and also has a red visor over his left eye. He carries a yellow and red gun.

History

Along with Freddy Fazbear, Chica and Foxy, Bonnie was built for the new Freddy Fazbear's Pizza in FNaF 1 after the older pizzeria with the same name from FNaF 2 is closed. He was the guitarist of the animatronic band.

As seen in FNaF 2 minigames, after five children had been killed by William Afton, their souls are put into the animatronics by The Marionette, including Bonnie. And some time after the killed children were reported missing, the pizzeria was closed down.

As shown in FNaF 3 minigames, William Afton then found out about the trapped souls inside the animatronics, and decided to come back to the place and destroy them one by one. Bonnie along with other animatronics are dismantled, which causes the souls to break free. As William ran into the secret safe room in the restaurant and wear the Spring Bonnie suit to hide from them, the springlocks in the suit suddenly malfunctioned (possibly due to the rain water seeping into the building), causing the locks to become loose, resulting in his brutal death. Finally, the souls fade away.

In Special Delivery, a rebuild of Bonnie is made by the Fazbear Entertainment for the Fazbear Funtime Service, along with other animatronics and his reskins, Choco-Bonnie and Easter Bonnie.

He also makes an appearance in The Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience.

Behavior

Bonnie is appears in three sections of the game.

Five Nights at Freddy's 1

In the Five Nights at Freddy's 1 gameplay segment, Bonnie will make his way to the player's office along with Freddy, Chica and Foxy, much similar to the original game where he debuted. He approaches the left doorway. When he arrives, the player must shut the left door to prevent him from getting in.

Bonnie Repair

Bonnie also appears to be in a repair section. In this section, the player will follow the computer's voice instruction to clean Bonnie's eyes and repair Bonnie's guitar; specifically the tune of the guitar. If the instruction isn't followed properly, such as dropping an eye in the wrong cleaning receptacle, Bonnie will jumpscare the player, ending the run.

Pizza Party

Bonnie makes a brief appearance in the Hardmode of Night Terrors, Pizza Party. He appears after the player enters the left hallway of the FNaF 1 office. The left door of the office will be closed a while after the player stays in the room, and Bonnie will start to approach the player. If the player doesn't leave the room immediately, Bonnie will jumpscare the player.

FNaF AR: Special Delivery

Bonnie is an animatronic that can attack the player. The player must locate him by detecting the static and listen to his movement and noises. When he charges at them, the player must shock him when he is visible. The player must also look away when he is in the "Haywire Mode", where he stands right in front of the player and twitches fitfully. It is also possible to obtain his plush suit and his CPU upon defeating him.

Skins

FNaF VR: Help Wanted

Hard-Mode-Bonnie-Alternate-Render.png
In Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted's blacklight modes, Bonnie is replaced by his blacklight counterpart, Neon Bonnie. He is the blacklight counterpart of the original Bonnie with trippy-looking neon colors.

Appearance

Neon Bonnie's model is nearly identical to his original counterpart, only colored in neon black and with a different textures and to reflect the blacklight mode. He has neon light blue eyes with neon blue pupils in his dark eye sockets.

Behavior

In Blacklight mode, Neon Bonnie replaces Bonnie. There are no mechanical changes to gameplay with Bonnie's repair. However, there is distorted music and multi-colored flashing lights, which may disorient the player and make tuning the guitar difficult. The color scheme has also been changed to a blacklight palette.

FNaF AR: Special Delivery

In Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery, Bonnie currently has a total of four skins.

Render by Doormatt.

Chocolate Bonnie (also known as Choco-Bonnie) is an Easter-themed skin of Bonnie released on April 10th, 2020. He is the first skin of Bonnie. As proven in the E-Mails, his behavior is a lot more aggressive.

Appearance

His overall look is similar to the original Bonnie, but his skin color has changed to brown, as he is supposedly made out of chocolate. Part of his left ear, body, and left leg are missing, as if they are bitten away. Choco-Bonnie's eyes color has changed to red as well. Some cracks can be seen on his body, especially where he is "bitten". His bowtie is now light blue, and his buttons are colorful and are made to look like candies.

Render by Doormatt.

Easter Bonnie is an Easter themed skin of Bonnie released on April 16, 2020. He is the second skin of Bonnie.

Appearance

His overall look is similar to the original Bonnie, but his skin color has changed to white to resemble the color of a real life bunny. His stomach is designed to look like an Easter egg. There is a tag on his left ear which says "Happy Easter", with the "S" being a different color than the rest of the letters. His eyes are now blue, his nose is now purple, and his bow-tie is bright yellow.

BlackHeartBonnie ByScrappyboi.png
Black Heart Bonnie is a Valentines Day themed skin of Bonnie released on February 4, 2021. He is Bonnie's third skin.

Appearance

Black Heart Bonnie looks identical to Bonnie, however his entire body is now made of black glass. His torso, upper left arm, right forearm and both his legs are covered in scratches, cracks and holes in the glass. His eyes are mostly black, but his irises glow a bright red. Finally, in his torso is a pixelated heart that flickers and glows.

MeltedChocoBonnieAmqericaRender.png
Melted Chocolate Bonnie is a melted variant of Chocolate Bonnie released on April 1, 2021. He is the fourth skin of Bonnie and the first skin of 2021 to be released alone.

Appearance

Melted Chocolate Bonnie looks near identical to Chocolate Bonnie, except he is, as expected, melting. He has way more holes than the original Chocolate Bonnie, some of which show more of his endoskeleton, and is now a slightly darker shade of brown. Finally, on his upper left arm, lower right arm and left hand, various small sprinkles can be seen.

Trivia

FNaF VR: Help Wanted

  • Help Wanted is the first time in a main game that Bonnie's model has been blue. As explained in FNaF 2, this's due to Bonnie and the other Classics using modified and recolored version of the Withereds' suit, hence the blue blotches on the original version.
    • All previous games showed classic Bonnie as either a purple or an indigo.
    • Despite how it appears, classic Bonnie's base model is actually blue, as revealed in Scott Cawthon's anniversary images. In most images where Bonnie appears purple, he is usually more of a desaturated blue (which can have an illusion of appearing purple).
      • The only game to break this rule is FNAF World.
    • FNaF 3 does showcase classic Bonnie as blue, but only in minigame form.

Bonnie with the wrong texture that appears in Funtime Foxy's hard mode level.

  • There is a glitch or an oversight in Funtime Foxy's Hard Mode level where the player may get jumpscared by a Bonnie with his head texture in the repair stage.
  • In the lyrics of the Freddy Fazbear's Theme, Bonnie mentions having a cotton tail, despite not having one at all.
    • This can be further seen when viewing him in the Gallery.
    • The lyric could actually be a reference to Toy Bonnie, who does have a cotton tail.
  • Bonnie in this game sports a different guitar, this is presumably due to copyright reasons about the original, V-shaped design of the guitar.
  • In Pizza Party, Bonnie appears as Blacklight Bonnie when jumpscaring the player even though he appears as his usual look in the level.

FNaF AR: Special Delivery

  • Bonnie is one of the only characters to currently has no voicelines. Instead, he make groaning sounds and mechanical movement sounds instead.
      • The quiet, distant whining of an electric guitar can also be heard as Bonnie closes in on the player.
  • Bonnie's updated, plastic texture colors him a medium purple, as opposed to the blue and white of his base model in Help Wanted.
  • For unknown reason, Bonnie gets to have two new skins within a week, both based on the same theme: Easter.
    • Despite Easter day is over, Easter Bonnie arrived at a later date, the reason is unknown.
      • However, if the time of seasons are based on the Liturgical Calendar, it is technically still Easter.
  • Bonnie was the first character to get two skins.
    • Those two skins being Chocolate Bonnie and Easter Bonnie.
  • Chocolate Bonnie, along with Flaming Springtrap, does not appear in the daily reward icon for the Mashup Event.
  • If the "S" is removed from the tag on Easter Bonnie's ear, the words will spell "Happy Eater".
  • Bonnie is the second character to get three skins.
  • Black Heart Bonnie is the first skin to release at the same time as another skin, being Heartsick Baby.
  • Black Heart Bonnie & Heartsick Baby are the only skins since the Haunted Forest event to have the same jumpscare and haywire sounds as their normal counterparts.
  • In FNaF AR's unreleased emails, a lot is revealed about the lore, but one bit of information that sticks out is the information that Bonnie had eaten a cat. This was most likely meant to show off the aggressiveness of the animatronics.
  • Bonnie is the second character to receive 4 skins, the first being Springtrap.
  • Melted Chocolate Bonnie when he was first released was bugged to where he was always visible to the player when charging, making it unclear as to when the player should shock him or not.
  • Melted Chocolate Bonnie actually reuses the exact same workshop animation as Jack-O-Bonnie.

Freddy In Space 2

  • Despite being in space, Bonnie does not wear a helmet.
  • Bonnie's suit bears a resemblance to the Frieza Force's Battle Armor used by the members of the Frieza Force from Dragon Ball.
    • Furthermore, Bonnie's red visor seems to be based off of the Frieza Force's Scouters.
