Bub is an old springlock suit stored in the Murray's Costume Manor RnD department. She acts as a wearable springlock suit in her debut game, Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic.
Appearance[]
Bub is a large brown dog springlock suit made almost entirely out of grungy metal. She has a round head with a short snout and ears, as well as a large jaw. Her snout and stomach are a pale tan color, meanwhile the area around her eyes and the inner part of her ears are a much darker brown than the rest of her fur. Her eyebrows are permanently stuck in an angry position, and she has three small freckles on both sides of her snout. She wears large golden bone with her name inscribed on it that sits right at the top of her chest. Underneath the bone is an indentation in the suit that appears as a red collar, suggesting the bone to be a dog tag.
Similarly to the other Springlock Suits, Bub has a large frame with limbs that are held together with rubber tubes and springs. Her dog bone can be pulled on to act as a sort of button to open her stomach hatch and allow somebody to crawl inside.
Gameplay[]
Bub appears as one of many wearable springlock suits hidden in Murray's Costume Manor's Research and Development section. She can be found in the prototype Freddy's safe room area on a stage. After opening the curtain on the stage, the player can activate the suit and wear it, hiding them from the Mimic, as well as allowing them to place the suit under the security light to drain the power and allow them to get other suits to do the same and access to the office holding F10-N4.

Trivia[]
- Bub holds many similarities to Sparky from the FNaF movie, being a brown dog animatronic with orange eyes who is closely associated with the classic animatronics in some manner.
- This is further scene in Bub's concept art, in which she was meant to originally be a direct variant of Sparky.
- This could suggest that Sparky is actually meant to be Bub, as the development for Secret of the Mimic and the film line up and Sparky is never officially referred to as anything more than "???", though this remains unconfirmed. Though it is also potentially unlikely, as the crew who worked on the film appear to refer to the character as Sparky anyhow.
- These same similarities plus Bub's ears also connect her loosely to Fetch from the Fazbear Frights anthology series.
- This is further scene in Bub's concept art, in which she was meant to originally be a direct variant of Sparky.
- Bub's gender is only revealed via the bedtime story read during the secret ending, as no references to any of the Springlock Suits individually are made throughout the game.[1]
- This initially led to many mistaking the character for male, likely due to her similarities with Sparky and identical proportions to the other Springlock suits, most of whom are either male, or have no confirmed gender in the case of Spring Bonnie.
- Bub, alongside Monty, is portrayed as being a part of the original band of characters, being two of four Springlock suits alongside Fredbear and Spring Bonnie, and both characters appear as potential answers in the bedtime story read to David/the Mimic in the secret ending.
