David Sean Murray was the son of Edwin Murray and his wife Fiona Murray, owners of Murray's Costume Manor and its parent company, Murray Co. After the passing of his mother, David would form a bond with Edwin's greatest creation, the Mimic, who practically raised the young boy. David would unfortunately pass away around the time of his fifth birthday, acting as the final nail in the coffin of Edwin's slow descent into madness.
David is mentioned and heard multiple times throughout Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic, and plays a large role in the game's overarching story.
Appearance[]
David is depicted as a young boy with short brown hair, He has heterochromia, making his right eye blue and his left eye green, and a white complexion. Artwork depicts him as wearing a light blue collared shirt as well as brown pants. In David's own artistic depictions of himself, he is often seen wearing a green shirt, blue pants of some kind, and blue shoes.
Personality[]
David, being an extremely young child, is mostly depicted as being curious and shy, showing distress towards M1 before warming up to it after Edwin explains its purpose. He is also shown to be quite playful and artistic, growing excited for a playground Edwin had built him on MCM's grounds, and having many drawings of him and his family found in different areas of the game. Finally, David is shown to be extremely attached to a White Tiger doll that his mother had made him, with all artistic depictions of him featuring the doll, and him needing the doll with him in order to fall asleep at night.
History[]
Before Secret of the Mimic[]
After obtaining ownership of Murray Co. and getting married, Edwin and Fiona Murray would have their son, David Sean Murray. Around his first birthday, Fiona would make a small hand puppet as a gift for David, though Edwin would ultimately scare the toddler with it by mistake. While David grew up in a household with loving parents, he was no stranger to neglect, as Edwin would often drown himself in his work, missing important events of David's such as his second birthday, on top of the many instances of Edwin brushing David off when he tried to spend time with his father.
Some time shortly before David's third birthday, his mother Fiona would tragically die in a fire at Fallfest, leaving the two together. Edwin would try his best to keep David in high spirits, but his mother's absence from his birthday and getting to see him open presents broke the toddler. Due to a mixture of grief and not having any time to take care of his son, Edwin would builds M1 for David. While David would be initially frightened by the endoskeleton's appearance, he quickly warmed up to it after Edwin reassured him and explained that M1 would act as David's new babysitter. Sometime after, M1 would begin to inexplicably mimic David's late mother, causing David's bond with the machine to grow even more.
Sometime around David's fifth birthday, whilst under M1's watch, David would be killed by being struck by a car. Devastated by the event, Edwin would be pushed by M1 to create a new Mimic to take David's place as M1 did Fiona's. Edwin, however, would realize the insanity of the suggestion and completely reject the idea, storing M1's programming in the F10-N4 computer, and creating the M2 program for the Mimic to use. Unfortunately for Edwin, M2 would later begin to copy David's voice and mannerisms, causing the widowed man to delve deeper into his own madness.
Secret of the Mimic[]
While David himself never appears in-game outside of portraits and recordings featuring his voice, David's impact lingers within MCM, especially in the game's Secret Ending, in which M2 permanently takes on the mimicked identity of David.

Speculation[]
It is heavily speculated that David's soul haunts Murray's Costume Manor, for a number of reasons. The most noteworthy of which being David's voice and laughter echoing through the halls, even when the player is nowhere near any recorded messages. On top of this, the location also appears to be haunted in general, with lights inside mascot suit heads randomly flickering on when the Mimic isn't around, or random push-to-talk cutouts activating on their own.
It is also heavily theorized that the White Tiger is a manifestation of David's soul, as it appears to be entirely supernatural in behavior, and is often accompanied by the sound of David's laughter.
While it is currently unconfirmed as to if David or his spirit are directly involved in any of the location's hauntings, it is clear that the strange happenings in the location all seem to tie back to him in some way.
Trivia[]
- David is the first human character in FNaF with heterochromia.
- David's voice can be heard throughout the game at random points, however it appears to be M2 mimicking his voice, as it holds the same filter put over Mimic's other copied voicelines.
