Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic is the upcoming mixed free-roam and virtual reality title in the Five Nights at Freddy's series. The game appears to be set before many other FNaF titles, and will be centered heavily around the Mimic. It was first announced on August 6, 2024 as a part of FNaF's 10th Anniversary celebration, and is set to release on June 13, 2025.

Plot

After the disappearance of a Fazbear Entertainment contractor, Edwin Murray, the player is assigned to go to his warehouse, Murray's Costume Manor, with the objective of retrieving a "prototype endoskeleton" model that he had been developing for the company.

• The game will likely take place in 1979, as the date breifly flashes on-screen at the end of the initial teaser trailer.
• Brian Freyermuth, the design director at Steel Wool, quoted Steel Wool's announcement post on X/Twitter, saying, "The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones," a quote from William Shakespeare's play "Julius Caesar." It is currently unknown what this means in relation to Secret of the Mimic.
• This was the first non-DLC FNaF game developed by Steel Wool to not be announced during a PlayStation event.
• The game was seemingly developed under the internal name "Carnival," as a project called carnival was hinted at in out-of-bounds text within RUIN, and the link to the game's PlayStation page also lists it as "FNAFCARNIVAL".
