HandUnit, fully known as the Handyman's Robotics and Unit Repair System Model 5, is an artificial intelligence voice recording that guides and instructs the player in certain levels and warns the player to not touching anything dangerous in the game. He made his appearance before in Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location, and would later make more appearances in Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted and its sequel Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted 2.
He had also reappeared in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator as a new variation known as Tutorial Unit, who reappeared in Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery. Finally, in Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach he returned as another new variation known as Dread Unit who also returned alongside HandUnit in Help Wanted 2.

Description[]
FNaF VR: Help Wanted[]
In the intro of Help Wanted, HandUnit introduces the Fazbear Virtual Experience to the player, telling about the backstories of the game. In the level select room, he also warns the player to not interact with anything that doesn't seem to belong to the game. Other than that, he normally guides the player, giving them a tutorial, teaching them to use the level select console, for example.
In the Parts and Service levels as well as the Dreadbear level in Spooky Mansion section in Curse of Dreadbear, he tells the player on what to do. The player must follow each of the steps that he mentioned correctly to avoid being attacked. In the Vent Repair levels, however, he only introduces the player, but not giving any instruction, leaving the player themselves to figure them out.
FNaF AR: Special Delivery[]
In Special Delivery, HandUnit appears only at the start of the game. He tutorials the player on how the game works, such as how to capture the animatronics, the Workshop's function and so on.
FNaF: Security Breach[]
In Security Breach, HandUnit goes by the name "Dread Unit" (this is only mentioned in the credits) and takes up the role of announcing certain statements when walking into locations, as well as announcing when the Security Doors close.
Trivia[]
- The voice line of HandUnit used in the Funtime Foxy level is reused from Sister Location, hence the reason why the voice of HandUnit in the level is slightly different than the others.
- In the early access version of the game, HandUnit introduced the people to Freddy Fazbear at the end instead of glitching out in the ending of the game. The later unused line seems to be supposedly for the showtime, which hasn't been included in the game yet.
- In the credits of Security Breach, HandUnit's voice actor is credited for the role of "Dread Unit," despite it simply being HandUnits usual voice with no changes.
- The same thing was the case for Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator with HandUnit being called "Tutorial Unit."

- Help Wanted 2 is the first game in the series to include multiple Unit variations in one game, with both HandUnit and Dread Unit being in the game.
- In Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic, a character known as Dispatch appears as the primary guide in the game. Dispatch, much like the HandUnit variations, is voiced by Andy Field, doing an extremely similar voice to the AI trio. Because of this, as well as the game's placement in the timeline, it is speculated that Dispatch may have provided his own voice for HandUnit in-universe.
