Appearance[]
M.X.E.S. is a large indigo rabbit with floating, segmented arms and a long, snake-like body. Its tail and torso are connected by a black, cable-like segment, and its shoulders, elbows and hands are connected by streams of electricity. M.X.E.S. is covered in many glowing white markings, with some of the markings being indented within its body, with the missing pieces floating above the indents.
Gameplay[]
RUIN[]
M.X.E.S. is a unique enemy, only appearing within the AR World if the Security Mask is worn for too long, or in a select few scripted segments. When appearing, M.X.E.S. will creep closer to the player, enveloping the screen in static. When stalking the player, M.X.E.S. will send out a distress signal to any nearby animatronics, causing them to come forth to attack the player. Being too close to M.X.E.S. for too long will cause the animatronics it calls for to kill the player faster. M.X.E.S. will also occasionally place AR Inhibitors around to prevent the player from putting on or, more commonly, removing the mask. The only way to get rid of M.X.E.S. is to remove the Security Mask and wait a few moments before putting it back on. M.X.E.S. will also either randomly jumpscare the player when spawning or before sending an animatronic to kill the player.
M.X.E.S. is the only enemy in the DLC who is not able to directly kill the player.
Help Wanted 2[]
M.X.E.S. makes a small cameo at the end of Help Wanted 2's content update via the M.X.E.S. machine being revealed to be sitting in the back of a blue van after the player completes the puzzle to unlock it. If the player inputs "4625" into the keypad on the machine, M.X.E.S. will attempt to escape the machine only to fail and for the van to drive away.
Story[]
M.X.E.S. is the digital manifestation of the M.X.E.S. (pronounced "mixes") Security Program; a security system designed to keep the Mimic trapped underneath the Pizzaplex. Throughout the game, it attempts to stop Cassie from moving forward and disabling the Security Nodes connected to the M.X.E.S. system. After Cassie shuts off the machine outside of the Mimic's room, M.X.E.S. tries one last time to stop Cassie before ultimately being sucked back into the machine.
Unused Content[]

A second model named "Black Rabbit", also referred to as "DLC Rabbit", can be found within the files. This model is a tall skeletal creature with a rabbit-like skull, two long ears, glowing white eyes and a glowing blue core in it's rib-cage. The model goes completely unused within the game, however appears to be a beta version of the Entity; sharing many animations with it, as well as the two model's texture names being mixed up. It is unclear as to why this version of the character was scrapped, however unlike M.X.E.S., it appears this version would've actively hunted the player, as it has a walking and crawling animation, whereas M.X.E.S. simply teleports to the player.
Speculation[]
While it is not confirmed as to who actually made the M.X.E.S. security program, and the Entity by extension, many people theorize that it could have been Vanessa and Gregory. Gregory's aid in its creation would explain things such as Gregory's backpack being present in the room where the M.X.E.S. security program's machine is found, as well as why and how Gregory knows about it at all. This would also explain why Gregory's drawings of the other endings can be found, as helping Vanessa develop the software would require the two to travel back to the Pizzaplex. Vanessa's involvement would also explain things such as the rabbit-like appearance, and it's connection to the Security Mask and "V.A.N.N.I." system. As well as this, both characters are portrayed to have some background in programming, with Gregory showing hacking capabilities in the Tales from the Pizzaplex story, GGY, as well as Vanessa having a background in robotics as revealed in the Retro CDs.
However, it is still unconfirmed on if they are the creators of the Entity and the security program it's tied to.
Trivia[]
- Despite being called "The Entity" both in-game and in the games' files, the characters' name has been confirmed by Scott himself to be M.X.E.S.[1]
- M.X.E.S. is perceived as the main antagonist for most of the DLC, up until Gregory revealed what the M.X.E.S. system was.
- Due to being a digital being, M.X.E.S. can only be encountered while wearing the Security Mask.
- M.X.E.S. is the only character able to jumpscare the player without killing them.
- The Entity's grin slowly gets larger the longer the player has their mask on after the Entity arrives.
- One of its internal names is shared with the Popgoes character, Black Rabbit.
- It is unknown what "M.X.E.S." stands for, however some of the letters could be inferred, such as the M potentially standing for "Mimic", given the program's role of keeping the Mimic trapped, and the ES could potentially stand for "Endpoint Security", as ES is commonly an abbreviation for that in cyber security.
- Though both inferences are unconfirmed.
- The Entity's beta design shares similarities with a form taken on by William Afton in the final epilogues of the Fazbear Frights book series, being a humanoid skeleton with a rabbit-like head and sharp claws. Though the resemblance is likely a coincidence.
- The, likely coincidental, similarities could potentially be the reason the design was scrapped, as the design could have caused confusion. Though this is not directly confirmed to be the reason.
