— Mystic Hippo
|
Mystic Hippo is a fortune teller and guide animatronic introduced in Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2.
Appearance[]
Mystic Hippo is a purple hippo animatronic wearing a black starry dress, a small black string-necklace with a moon charm, and two blue bead necklaces. She has green eye shadow and pink lipstick, and is wearing gold bracelets on bother her wrists, and a matching gold earring on her left ear. In her poster, she is seen with blue nail polish, and holding a small turquoise orb with a yellow star in the middle.
Her booth is a pale yellow color with dull yellowish-green faces on each side of the booth. The top face reads "MYSTIC HIPPO" in bold purple letters with two yellow, four-pointed stars on each end of the logo, with the lower face holding the gray metallic token insert and access panel, and the same four-pointed stars in the bottom left corner. The top of the booth is a black color with a purple flower-like pattern going across it, with a matching purple pattern going across the mid-section of the booth. Finally, two large buttons appear on the front of the machine; a red one that activates Mystic Hippo, and a yellow one with a diamond pattern that has Mystic Hippo repeat her previous hint for the Mimic's puzzle.
Personality[]
Mystic Hippo is portrayed as a somewhat cliche depiction of a psychic character. She speaks in a very mystical and cryptic way throughout the game, often only pushing the player towards their goal rather than giving them clear answers. She's also shown to be highly intelligent, having knowledge of many of the things going on throughout the game, notably ones the player lacks knowledge on.
Gameplay[]
In the PSVR2 version of the game, Mystic Hippo is home to a short optional minigame. During this, she'll reveal five cards to the player and instruct them to choose between them. To pick a card, the player must focus their eyes on a specific one. Whichever one the player stares at will then be the card Mystic Hippo reveals. According the Playstation Blog that first teased the minigame, the player is supposedly able to trick Mystic Hippo.[1] This minigame was made unavailable in other versions of the game due to it requiring eye-tracking.[1]
Outside of her optional minigame, Mystic Hippo will also act as a sort of guide to the player, often waking up to hint to the player at changes within the Hub World, as well as guiding them through the Mimic's puzzle.

Trivia[]
- Mystic Hippo was actually first revealed in a playstation blog about the game in which she was name-dropped near the end.[1]
- Mystic Hippo is an obvious variant of Mr. Hippo, a Mediocre Melody from Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator.
- Despite being a minigame exclusive to a specific version of the game, Mystic Hippo's minigame offers no actual reward or loss.
- In all versions except the PSVR2 version of the game, Mystic Hippo has a small "Out of Order" sign in the window of her booth to indicate that the minigame is unplayable.
