Nightmare Freddy is the titular antagonist of Five Nights at Freddy's 4 and a returning character in Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted. He is a nightmarish incarnation of the original version of Freddy Fazbear.
Appearance[]
Nightmare Freddy[]
Nightmare Freddy is a dirty, dark brown bear with a lighter brown on his muzzle, chest, and in his ears. He has a somewhat chubby face, with two rows of sharp fang-like teeth, and withering all over his body. He has metallic eyeballs with fiery orange eyes and white pupils. He is missing a chunk of his right ear. He wears a black bowtie on his chest and a matching top hat on his head, the latter also being damaged. His torso is wide and squarish, with broad shoulders. His fur is ripped all his body, revealing sections of his endoskeleton beneath. His five-fingered hands are jointed, with sharp metallic claws at the end of each finger. His legs and feet are also heavily damaged. His feet would each have four toes, if not for the withering. He also has three Freddles attached to his body.
Freddles[]
They have the same color scheme as Nightmare Freddy, but have black and white eyes. Their hats are perfectly fine. They have two fingers and parts of their endoskeletons are showing in their face and body. Their teeth are white and sharp.
History[]
Based on the original version of Freddy Fazbear, Nightmare Freddy is one of the seven Nightmare Animatronics who appeared in Five Nights at Freddy's 4. Their background history are still a mystery.
In Help Wanted, Nightmare Freddy has its appearance in The Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience.

Hallway Crawl[]
Nightmare Freddy appears in Spooky Mansion's Hallway Crawl stage. After the player has made some progress, Nightmare Freddy will come from behind them and begin to follow them. The player must keep a steady pace to keep distance between themself and Nightmare Freddy, only stopping when absolutely necessary. When Nightmare Freddy nears the player, they will hear his Freddles screeching and see his shadow looming over them when the lightning flashes. If Nightmare Freddy catches up to the player, he will jumpscare them, ending their run.
FNaF AR: Special Delivery[]
Nightmare Freddy was confirmed to be planned for the game, as his name and data is listed within text in Special Delivery's files. However, Nightmare Freddy would never be implemented into the game.

FNaF VR: Help Wanted[]
- Usually, Nightmare Freddy and the Freddles appear together, but the Freddles made their debut in the base game before the DLC formally introduced Nightmare Freddy.
- This is also the same case for Nightmare Chica and Nightmare Cupcake, in which Nightmare Cupcake appeared first.
- Unlike in his previous appearances, Nightmare Freddy's eyes are a bright yellow instead of a dark orange.
