The Pirate Captain, otherwise known as the Captain Springlock Suit, simply Captain, or Captain Springlock, or Captain Cobalt (according to his concept art), is an old springlock suit of a pirate. He appears as the captain to a crew of puppets for a puppet show set in MCM's own theater and is wearable by the player in his debut game, Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic.
Appearance[]
The Captain is a large pirate animatronic wearing a blue pirate's coat with a yellow trim, a white shirt & matching jacket, and torn, dull blue pants. His head is that of a dog, with a dull yellow face, sharp teeth, fully golden eyes and a mass of dreadlocked hair. A handful of his dreads have golden rings on them, and he has a matching gold earring on his right ear. His face is permanently stuck in a tongue-out expression with his mouth open. Atop his head is a large brown pirate hat with a red octopus on it.
His coat is adorned with golden medals with colorful ribbons, a red rope-like belt, and two yellow shoulder pads with tassels. Both arms have small red octopi on them, similar to the one on his hat. Instead of a second hand, his right arm ends in a small gray cannon that fires small foam balls to hit targets with. His feet, while explicitly robotic in nature, are designed to look similar to shoes.
As a springlock suit, the Captain's chest cavity can open up to reveal mechanical ribs and an empty spot for the suit's wearer to climb into. Similar braces for the legs and arms can be seen at the connecting points to the torso of those respective limbs.
Gameplay[]
The player first finds the Captain as just a torso suspended by a mechanical arm. After the player initiates the springlock suit sequence, lowering the arm and the torso. After this, the player must avoid the Mimic in various mascot suits while searching for the Captain's head and limbs. Once the player locates one of the parts, they must slowly carry it back to the torso to attach it. Once all parts are attached, the player must then energize the Springlocks to wear the suit.
While wearing the suit, the player can fire small foam balls from the Captain's arm canon to hit targets and can step onto lifting platforms for springlock suits. As well as this, the Mimic will not notice the player if they hide within the suit, ignoring or even waving at them before patrolling as usual.
After using the suit to traverse the back rooms of the stage area, the player finds themself on a platform above a stage, in which they must watch and participate in the pirate puppet show, shooting down targets and puppet distractions when prompted. After the show has finished, the entire room will collapse and the player will reawaken in Dollie's office, where she will address the Captain and inform him that she'll return to grind up and remove the "foreign object" within the suit. After she leaves, the player must exit the Pirate Captain suit, leaving it behind.

Trivia[]
- According to Dollie, the Pirate Captain was brought to her doctor's office before the player's visit, suggesting his suit in particular was a dangerous one.
- This could explain why his parts were scattered around the workshop, as he could have been dismantled to avoid further use, though this is unconfirmed.
- The Pirate Captain's name changes at various points throughout the game, being referred to as "Captain Springlock Suit" in the computer, "Captain" in the in-game subtitles, "Pirate Captain" in the credits, and "Captain Springlock" in the files.
- Additionally, concept art reveals that the Captain's name was originally "Captain Cobalt", and was seemingly changed fairly late into development given the concept art utilizes the character's final design.
- Pirate Captain's design makes it somewhat difficult to determine what kind of animal he is, with many assuming initially that he was a lion due to his yellow fur and dreads, though in-game blueprints and concept art reveal that he is a bulldog.
