Are you looking for the Mimic, a character with an alternate identity often erroneously ascribed to the White Tiger?

The White Tiger is a plush toy originally owned by David Murray, and later the Mimic. The plush was a noteworthy item in the Tales from the Pizzaplex stories, known as Tiger Rock, and made it's first game appearance as a collectable item in a free content update for FNaF: Help Wanted 2, acting as a seventh memory doll.

It, and it's larger mascot counterpart, would later play a much larger role in Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic, being both an important item in one of it's endings, as well as a secondary antagonist.

Appearance[]

The White Tiger, true to it's name, is a large cartoonish white tiger mascot suit. It's mostly white in color apart from the black stripes going along it's back and sides, and the dull purple paw-pads. It has three crudely-made buttons on it's chest, and stitch lines along it's stomach and palms. On it's back is a large zipper. It's face holds a rubber-like snout with sharp teeth and spindly whiskers, as well as two large, round black ears. Finally, and most notably, the Tiger has two, glowing heterochromatic eyes, with the right one being a bright lime green, and the left one being a sky blue.

The only difference between the plush and the mascot suit are their scale, as they are the same model.

Gameplay[]

Help Wanted 2[]

The White Tiger memory doll can be found in the Office: Puppet Master minigame and is unlocked in a similar way to the Marionette memory, typing "1979" into the keypad hidden in the desk drawer to the player's left. Once this is done, the player will be given the tiger doll and it will appear in their hub world sat next to the Gallery control panel. Unlocking it grants the player a statue of the Mimic's mascot form from Security Breach's RUIN DLC, as well as opening the gate for the player to begin a puzzle minigame to unlock a Secret of the Mimic teaser, as well as a Jackie statue. Apart from unlocking the Mimic and beginning this quest line however, the plush has zero use.

Secret of the Mimic[]

The White Tiger appears a handful of times throughout the game, appearing for a split second under a spotlight before immediately disappearing.

It's most notable appearance in the game is just before the player reaches 4am, in which a short encounter with the Tiger happens in a dark, barely-lit section of the establishment. At the start of this section, the Tiger will stand in the middle of the room and briefly jumpscare the player from far off. After it disappears, the player is tasked with traversing the room by following the few spots lit up by light, all the while the lights behind the player flicker out and the Tiger seemingly teleports throughout the room. The Tiger will typically stay in the darkness, only appearing in the light a few times to briefly block the player's path before disappearing much like their earlier encounters. If the player stays in the darkness too long, or runs into the Tiger, it will jumpscare and kill them.

After a bit, the player can then find a second section to this dark area where they can use Star Orphan plushes that glow to light their way forward, all while the Tiger continues to pursue them. Eventually, once the player has made it out of the room, the Tiger will disappear seemingly for good.

In the secret Good Ending to the game, the Tiger's plush form reappears in a bedroom eerily similar to that of the FNaF 4 bedroom. Here, the plush can be used to help soothe the Mimic and restore it to it's David mimicking program, ending it's violence once and for all.

Speculation[]

Unlike most other antagonists in the game, the Mimic does not appear to have a direct connection to the White Tiger's mascot form, as the suit appears to move in a supernatural manner with it's seeming teleportation and the flashed jumpscares at the start of its encounter. As well as this, it is the only mascot suit in the game to not move in the same way as the others, suggesting the Mimic is not the one controlling the suit.

While it is entirely possible that the Mimic does somehow control the suit despite its more supernatural abilities, the question remains on if the former is the case, as it then brings into question as to who the White Tiger actually is. Some fans took to theorizing that it is David Murray's ghost haunting the location, though this is unconfirmed and has little evidence to support it at this time.

Trivia[]

General[]

  • Many fans erroneously refer to the White Tiger as "Tiger Rock" in reference to a different Mimic-related character with an extremely similar design in the Tales from the Pizzaplex books.
    • Despite both being white tigers with the same heterochromia, Tiger Rock is not only a digital manifestation of the Mimic's programming, but that name is also never once used for the White Tiger mascot suit.
    • Steel Wool Studios themselves would later make the same mistaking; referring to the character as "Tiger Rock" on their instagram, only to then edit the post later to remove the name.[1]
  • The White Tiger's heterochromia matches David's, which makes sense as its implied that Fiona made the tiger for him.

Doll[]

  • Strangely, the inside of the Tiger's suit appears to have a flesh-like substance within it, which can be seen in-game if the player were to clip their camera into the doll's head.
    • This aspect of the design can actually be somewhat seen in Secret of the Mimic, as many of the White Tiger's poses have its head detached from its body. However trying to see this in-game will likely get the player killed due to having to be so close to the Tiger to see it.
  • Due to the doll version of the Tiger being a shrunken down model of the mascot suit, it holds the same zipper on its back that the suit does.
  • Internal text refers to the White Tiger's doll as "Mimic" likely due to their connection.[2]
  • The way the Mimic holds the doll in the secret ending is in clear reference to how it was described to hold it in the Tales from the Pizzaplex books.

Mascot[]

  • White Tiger has many similarities to Golden Freddy, being a paranormal suit with unclear origins and the seeming ability to disappear/teleport in the blink of an eye.
    • Coincidentally, they also both have a blue right glowing eye, albeit this only applies to Golden Freddy's film counterpart.
  • The achievement for beating White Tiger's boss fight is named Fundaphobia, which is a fear of basements.
  • White Tiger is one of only two major antagonists to appear in a non-lethal form outside of their dedicated hour, with the other being the Mimic at the very end of Dollie's boss fight.
  • Despite its supernatural nature, White Tiger has audio files for mechanical noises.
  • While it remains mostly static when it appears, White Tiger's head will always track the player's movement.
